I built this about 7 or so years ago as a custom dropship using a 1/35 scale Maschinenkrieger model!
*note the custom fit fully articulated wingtip twin-las-cannons!
Here is a Pic of some new Miniatures by Hydra Miniatures! These are “Galacteer” Faction Class I (Small) and Class II ships.
I’m a big fan of Zombiesmith’s “Quar” range of sci-fi figures, particularly their 15mm range.
While I was on dinner break at office, i whipped this sketch out as a fan scribble.
He’s Rhyfler Mykhul Whykun, a Veteran of the Crusader 27th “Pathfinder” Division.
My Beautiful Goddess of a wife Samantha got me a set of 20mm Roads for Father’s day!
These are being used with my in-progress terrain table (You can also see my fallow crop fields and more buildings in progress.)
The 20mm roads work well with the 15mm sci-fi since most 15mm sci fi is more like 18mm!
I am working on my 15mm Battlefield for this year’s Millennium Con XIII and decided to tackle my tree stands this weekend!
this took roughly 3 hours from start to completion.
MATERIALS:
METHOD:
First I laid out my tree armatures and glued them to the bases with Elmer’s Wood glue:
Then, I sprayed all of the bases black, painting gray along the edges and sides of the bases (since I am doing an arctic terrain, I did not want a hard black edge to the tree bases) and waited for the paint to dry.
I applied the Scenic cement on top of the painted bases using a small sponge brush. While the cement was wet, I shook the mixed turf over the glue creating a “Normal” looking green terrain base.
I allowed the cement to dry.
Some Clear Matte Acrylic sealer was sprayed over the stands to make sure the flock stayed put. (If you want a green tree stand stop here.)
Once this dried, taking and old brush I dabbed more scenic cement on the trees and the bases, then shook the soft flake snow over that to coat trees and bases in snow.
After that was done, a final spritz of sealer and Presto! An arctic forest.
I’m pleased with the results and think it matches up well with the table.
Woodland Scenics materials all have a consistently high quality at a reasonable price.
Next up are the scratch buildings!
I’ve been working on my terrain setup for this year’s Millennium Con in Round Rock Texas. What we have here is my “Zuzzy” brand sculpted latex terrain mat painted up as an arctic tundra. The trees are going to be leafless trunks with snow collected on the boughs (These are “Woodland Scenics” tree armatures mounted 3 to a stand.
The Plastic North African style buildings are by Amera Mouldings in the UK. They are cheap and easy to “Sci-fi” up. As more stuff gets mounted and painted I’ll put up more pics.
Here are some in-progress shots of my GZG New Israeli “Not Halo” figs with their Hi-Mobility wheeled armor.
Continuing my work on the 15mm Sci Fi Pile O’lead, here are 2x Rebel Minis Grav Tanks (Using them as German Luftpanzer Zwei) and one Reaper CAV Mech (It is 10mm, but works nicely as a 15mm Urban Assault Mech:
